CONGRATULATIONS! We have made it to the end of the school year! I hope that you are all happy, healthy, and ready for summer! I cannot wait until we meet face to face again, but in the meantime, I hope you enjoy the summer sunshine and make lots of happy memories.
For your last assignment, I want you to pick your absolute favorite song from music class this year. I want you to sing that song for three people that you love! This could be mom, dad, brother, sister, grandma, grandpa, auntie, uncle, neighbor, friend- anyone that you love! Share your love of music by singing for them.
Have a great summer!

Week 8
May 11-15
As we head into our last five weeks of the school year, we're going to review different parts of our musical "workout" each week. This week we are going to focus on all the Fingerplays and Action Songs we have learned throughout the year.
Directions: Students should listen to each fingerplay/action song first, while reviewing the movements that go along with that song or rhyme. Then, when students are comfortable with the movements, they should say the rhyme and do the movements on their own. Try to keep a steady beat and use expression in your voice!
If you are able, feel free to record and send a video of your favorite fingerplay to: [email protected] or through Class Dojo (perhaps your video could even be featured on the Eastpointe Facebook page!).
There was a little turtle...............................make a fist with one hand
Who lived in a box........................................cover the fist with the other hand
He swam in the water.................................swimming motion, alternating hands
And he climbed on the rocks....................make a fist with one hand and walk across the knuckles with the fingers of the other hand
He snapped at the minnow.......................on the word "snapped", reach out and quickly put all fingertips together
He snapped at the flea
He snapped at the mosquito
And he snapped at me!
He caught the minnow...............................on the word "caught", clap hands once
He caught the flea
He caught the mosquito
But he didn't catch me!...............................point to yourself and shake head "no"
Here's a pumpkin for the pie...................make a large circle with arms out in front
Apples red to bake......................................hold up two fists
Turkey for the roasting pan....................hold up fists with thumbs extended
I can hardly wait!.......................................rub palms together quickly
A tisket, a tasket, a green and yellow basket
I wrote a letter to my love and on the way I dropped it.
I dropped it, I dropped it, yes, on the way I dropped it.
A little (girl) (boy) picked it up and put it in (her) (his) pocket.
The group sits in a circle; one child walks around the outside of the circle with a letter; at the end of the second phrase, that child drops the letter behind another child, who picks it up and chases the first child around the circle; the first child tries to reach the gap in the circle before being caught; the second child carries the letter around as the game is repeated.
Two tall telephone poles.............................hold up the index finger of both hands
Between them a wire is strung.................with index fingers still up, touch middle fingers of each hand together
Two little birds hopped onto the wire.....touch thumbs of both hands to the middle two fingers
And they swung, swung, swung..............still holding hands together, swing hands back and forth
These are Mother's knives and forks.........hold both hands back to back with fingers intertwined
And this is Father's table................................roll hands over to show the knuckles
This is Sister's looking glass.........................raise and touch each index finger to the other
And this is the baby's cradle.........................raise and touch each baby finger to each other; rock the cradle
Old bald eagle sails around
Daylight is gone
Old bald eagle sails around
Daylight is gone
The group stands in a circle while one child walks around the inside of the circle; the child in the center chooses another child to join him or her; the group now sings, "Two bald eagles sail around...," continuing until all children are walking around in a circle.
And marches all the day.............................raise that arm slowly
At noon it stands right overhead.............point straight up
At night it goes away...................................slowly lower arm

Next, fold the pipe cleaner into a W. Start with your voice high and follow the pipe cleaner to sing the shape. Flip your W over. Now it looks like an M! Start with your voice low and sing the letter. How many letters can you make with the pipe cleaner? Can you sing them all?
